Before visiting Open Door, we ask that you please take a moment to read and familiarize yourself with Open Door Friends & Volunteer Guidelines.
Open Door is a community-based nonprofit that relies on the gifts of our community members for many volunteer needs. The best way to get involved with Open Door is to come spend time with us. Community Meals on Wednesdays at 5:30 pm are a great way to start. Come enjoy a meal and fellowship with your neighbors!
You can also host a donation drive for Open Door. Here is a list of needed items.
Interested in other volunteer opportunities? Let us know your name, contact information, and areas of interest and you will be contacted if we need your help.
Open Door encourages people to attend one of our Ministry WITH the Poor classes to learn more about our community and how to help. View and RSVP to the next training opportunity on our Facebook Page or send us an email at [email protected]
Our next Ministry WITH the Poor class is scheduled for Spring or Summer of 2020 from 9am-1pm at Open Door Community Center (1916 13th Street, Lubbock, TX 79401).
A great resource for people wanting to get involved is the book When Helping Hurts: How to Alleviate Poverty Without Hurting the Poor . . . and Yourself by Steve Corbett and Brian Fikkert.
