I was busy preparing dinner, my mind racing with thoughts of the next day...Giving Tuesday. This is one of the biggest fundraising days of the year for all nonprofits. We had set a lofty goal and I was silently going through all the scenarios in my head. What if we miss our goal, what if I forget to send a post? My phone rang and brought me back to the task at hand. On the other end was our Executive Director, Chad Wheeler. He said "I have a crazy idea and I need you to tell me if it's TOO crazy." Ok, full disclosure here. I am the last person anyone needs to be asking if an idea is too crazy. I'm the teammate that will always respond "GO FOR IT!!". Yeah, I'm that friend too. What was Chad's idea? To spend the night on the streets of Lubbock. Why? To raise awareness of our friends and neighbors who sleep on the street every night. You see, his idea wasn't crazy. It was brilliant and filled with nothing but love and compassion for those of us who don't have a home. Chad grabbed his zero degree sleeping bag, his backpack, and his trusty dog Vito. He headed out on the streets looking for a place to camp for the night and documented it for the world to see via Facebook live. I've posted the videos in order below. I hope you will take just a few minutes to watch what 24 hours on the street was like for Chad. Spoiler alert! It's a little Blair Witch Project.
