Yes! It is free to come and watch. You can contribute to the cause by engaging in raffle items and other activities that support Open Door.

Absolutely! This is built for family fun. You can watch and cheer on the racers, check out classic cars, and grab some food. Raffle prizes, face painting, and balloon twisting are also a plus.

We will have some tents and chairs for spectators, but we encourage you to bring lawn chairs, water, and sunscreen!

There will be plenty of parking at the location of the event (Montery Church of Christ). Parking will be clearly marked with signs right on 82nd street.

Yes. Bed racing will mostly take place from 11 am - 1pm but activities will be available from 10am - 2pm.

Team Details

Each team includes 5 people: 4 runners pushing the bed and 1 rider.
Bed racers must be 14 years or older. Participants under 18 must have a waiver signed by a parent or guardian.
All participants must sign a safety waiver and wear a helmet and closed-toed shoes while racing.

Teams should arrive by 10am for check-in and a bed safety inspection.

Yes! Kids can cheer on the teams, or sign-up for our Kid’s Fun Race which will take place between bed race rounds.
We will also have food trucks and a Caprock Classic Car Show for spectators to enjoy.

Races will happen in rounds throughout the event. A detailed schedule will be available the week before the event.
Registration Fee

Teams commit to raising or paying $500 to secure their spot. You can split this among team members or use fundraising tools we provide, including a personalized fundraising page.

Initial registration deposit is $50.00. Teams may fundraise, pay the full amount up front, or use a combination of both. Minimum paid/raised must be $500 in order to participate.
Registration closes on April 5, 2026 and minimum of $500 is due by April 5, 2026.
A personalized fundraising page is provided for every team.
Kids Fun Run is $25 (includes t-shirt). Spectators enter for free!

Yes — you can recruit your business, club, or church to sponsor. You can also reach out to Open Door to see if a sponsor is available (no guarantee).

Bed Logistics

No. Open Door can provide a bed base on wheels for your team. We will deliver it ahead of the event so your team can decorate it. If you enjoy building things, you’re welcome to build your own bed, but most teams simply decorate the one we provide.

No — teams build and decorate their beds before the event and bring them ready to race. We can help provide a bed base and wheels if you need one.
Teams are encouraged to pick a theme and decorate the bed and wear coordinating t-shirts or costumes!

Beds will be delivered to teams ahead of race day so you have time to decorate it.
The bed base with wheels is 44 in tall, 90 in long, and 36 in deep. Head and foot board can be detached.

You do not have to decorate the bed, but teams are encouraged to pick a theme - decorate the bed and wear coordinating costumes/t-shirts.
This does not have to be complicated Teams can simply add some color to the bed and wear coordinating t-shirts.

Teams are responsible for bringing their decorated bed to the event location on race day.
Teams will receive specific parking details prior to the event. Parking will be very near to the race area.

No - Open Door will breakdown the beds and reuse them as needed.
Even though we plan to reuse them, you can still make modifications and paint the bed if desired.
